1. Purpose:
The Credit Union Advisory Committee (CUAC) is a statutory committee, established under Section 180 of the Credit Union Act 1997, whose task is to advise the Minister for Finance on credit union matters. The CUAC advises the Minister on:
a. the improvement of the management of credit unions;
b. the protection of the interests of members and creditors of Credit Unions; and
c. other matters relating to credit unions upon which the Minister, the Central Bank of Ireland or such other persons, as may be specified by the Minister, may from time to time seek the advice of the Committee.
2. Term
The term of this Committee is 1 September 2010 to 31 August 2013.

4. Official Secrecy and Integrity
CUAC members and the work of the Committee are subject to requirements of the Official Secrets Act 1963, the Freedom of Information Acts 1997 and 2003 and the Ethics in Public Office Act 1995. Obligations in relation to Official Secrecy and Integrity are set out in Department of Finance Circular 15/1979.
5. Arrangements for meetings and general administrative support
a. Meetings held as determined by the Committee, approximately once a month.
b. Venue: Generally held at Department of Finance, Upper Merrion Street, Dublin 2. It is open to the Committee to choose an alternative venue.
