VAT on Property Transactions Public Consultation

The Minister for Finance, Mr. Brian Cowen, T.D., invites interested parties to make submissions regarding the proposed revision to the current system of applying VAT on property transactions put forward in the Revenue Commissioner’s review of the matter. This invitation provides a summary of the Revenue Commissioner’s review.

A copy of the Revenue review is available on the Revenue Commissioner’s website .Any resulting legislation will be scheduled for the Finance Bill 2008 following consideration by Government of the full proposals and the comments received.

Submissions received will be published on the Department's website.

Submissions may be emailed to the Department of Finance at VatOnProperty@finance.gov.ie or to Revenue at vaton_property_review@revenue.ie or posted to: 'VAT Consultation', VAT Policy Section, Budget and Economic Division,

Department of Finance, Government Buildings, Upper Merrion Street, Dublin 2.

Submissions must be received, at the latest, by 9 May 2007.

Vehicle Registration Tax (VRT) Consultation Process

The Minister for Finance, Mr. Brian Cowen, T.D., as announced in his Budget Statement on 6 December 2006, invites interested parties to make submissions regarding the proposed revision of the current VRT system to take greater account of environmental issues, in particular Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emissions.

Submissions received will be published on the Department's website.

Submissions may be emailed to: VRT@finance.gov.ie., or posted to 'VRT Consultation', Excise Policy Section, Budget and Economic Division, Department of Finance, Government Buildings, Upper Merrion Street, Dublin 2.

All Submissions from interested parties should be received, at the latest, by 1 March 2007.
