McCreevy publishes profiles of 2003 voted expenditure and tax receipts
The Minister for Finance, Mr. Charlie McCreevy, T.D., today published a summary of information on the 2003 profiles of voted expenditure and tax receipts.
The information on voted expenditure is based on material provided by all Departments/Offices and reflects their anticipated monthly expenditure patterns for 2003 as determined at the beginning of the year. It ought to be noted that unforeseen circumstances may arise during the year which can impact on the timing of spending throughout the year.
The summary information on tax receipts is provided by the Revenue Commissioners and is based on their expectation of the pattern of receipts for the year arising from Budget 2003.
Mr. McCreevy reiterated the Government’s determination that the post Budget levels of expenditure would be adhered to. The Government recently agreed improved measures in relation to the control and management of expenditure in 2003, which included a commitment to publish monthly profiles of voted expenditure. As part of the measures, the Minister for Finance will also continue to update Government on a monthly basis on the trends in public expenditure.
