- An Exchequer surplus of €383 million was recorded to end-May 2017. This compares to a deficit of €125 million in the same period last year. This year-on-year improvement of €508 million is primarily due to increased tax revenue.
- Tax revenues for the month of May closed the month 1.5% or €6 million above target. As a result, the cumulative tax revenue shortfall has been reduced to 1.4% or €68 million against profile, which represents a year-on-year increase of 2.9% or €51 million.
- Overall, total net voted expenditure to end-May 2017, at €7,833 million, was 1.5% or €68 million below target, but up 5.3% or €93 million in year-on-year terms.
